A thought on God’s delight
Simply put, if you can’t accept God’s delight over you now, in your immaturity, that’s plain ol’ fashion pride. Why? Because such a posture presumes that there actually is a level of maturity which credits God’s enjoyment.
Now, that is not to say that God will actively show the affection which He feels regardless of your righteousness, but it is to say that God’s delight in you doesn’t change when you mess up.
This is what distinguishes the redeemed from the world: God loves the whole world, but He enjoys His Bride.
I just replied to Jacob’s post regarding this very topic. Once he approves my comment, and it becomes available to read, I’d like to hear your thoughts.

It also presumes that you have the power and ability to do something so great that the love of God cannot function in relation to it…. hmmm… something does not seem right about that (but that does not mean that we don’t think that, sometimes we just like to think that we are the best at anything, even if it is the best at doing the worst things! ha)

Actually, my reply on Jacob’s blog doesn’t exactly address what you wrote… but it is tangentially related

Wow! That’s really good, Ron. Jumping on that, when you think about it, it’s that Isaiah 14:13-15 spirit that says “I will… I will… I will… I will… I will…”; only in the negative, self condemning, sense.

I’m trying to accept the fact that He enjoys me in weakness, Matt!
Gosh. He’s really not anything like us is He?
